1. Does the library book supplier “Baker & Taylor” affect school libraries?
Baker & Taylor is not an active vendor and does not affect our school libraries. Follett is our primary library vendor, along with a few smaller vendors.
2. Will MCPS maintain Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the education curriculum?
MCPS is required to provide equitable access to all students regardless. The Florida Department of Education determines academic content (curriculum).
3. What curriculum changes are proposed based on the direction of Comm. Kamoutas?
Revisions to state statutes typically occur in the spring or summer. When updates are made, MCPS aligns its curriculum with any changes adopted by the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE).
4. How do teachers ensure the students are actively engaged in learning? Are your students teaching each other?
Teachers are charged with actively engaging their students in learning – that’s how most students learn best. Active engagement can look different from one classroom to the next, though, and interaction between students is part of the learning process, especially when that interaction brings different viewpoints and perspectives into discussion.
