Dr. Danielle Brewer - Interim Superintendent, Marion County Public Schools

Dr. Danielle Brewer began her career with Marion County Public Schools (MCPS) in 2005 and currently serves as Interim Superintendent. Appointed by unanimous consensus of the Marion County School Board, she stepped into this leadership role after earning the highest scores in individual interviews conducted by each Board member under Florida’s Sunshine laws.

Before her appointment, Dr. Brewer served as the Senior Executive Director of High Schools and Secondary Curriculum, where she led 21 schools, supervised nine principals, and played a pivotal role in improving graduation rates districtwide. Her leadership path within MCPS has included roles as teacher, academic coach, dean, assistant principal, and principal—most recently at North Marion High School. In 2021, she was named Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Digital Learning, and in 2023, promoted to her executive leadership role.

Dr. Brewer holds degrees in Criminal Justice and Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University. She earned both an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) and Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership from National Louis University. Her doctoral research focused on how advanced academic programs can break the cycle of poverty and increase postsecondary success.

Her commitment to education is deeply personal. As a child, she and her twin sister entered foster care due to abuse, resulting in cryptophasia and years of speech therapy. These early experiences fuel her unwavering dedication to students facing adversity, especially those living in poverty. A passionate advocate for Career and Technical Education, she champions opportunities that prepare all students for success in college and careers.

Dr. Brewer and her husband, Jeff, are proud parents of four MCPS graduates, all of whom pursued academic and career technical programs in Florida.
