Kevin Christian directs Public Relations efforts for Marion County Public Schools. For the past 25 years, Christian has strategically communicated important, critical, even emergency information with award-winning results.
Originally from Ohio, Christian grew up in southern West Virginia. After earning his bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) from Lee University, he moved to Florida for jobs in Ocala (Paddock Mall) and Orlando (Calvary Assembly and Walt Disney World). Christian holds a master's degree in Broadcast Journalism (magna cum laude) from the University of Miami.
Prior to MCPS, Christian served as a news anchor and reporter in the Ocala/Gainesville market and was his station’s interim news operations manager. He was honored by the Associated Press with multiple awards for his work and covered two presidential visits and John Glenn’s return to space during his broadcast career.
Since joining MCPS in 2001, Christian’s work, along with the team he leads, has garnered more than 125 honors from local, state, and national organizations including the Sunshine State School Public Relations Association (SUNSPRA), the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA), and the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). He was SUNSPRA’s inaugural School Communicator of the Year (2024) and recently received the Mayor of Ocala’s Certificate of Appreciation (2026), given to just one resident each month.
Christian is the face and voice for MCPS and is a former SUNSPRA president, FPRA chapter president, FPRA vice president of credentialing, and FPRA’s current vice president of finances. He also is one of two FPRA members serving on the New York-based Universal Accreditation Board, the entity that issues the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential. In addition to his APR, Christian holds the CPRC credential, recognizing him as a Certified Public Relations Counselor, the highest credential possible for any Public Relations professional.
