Lamar Rembert - Area Superintendent

Bernard "Lamar" Rembert began his career with Marion County Public Schools (MCPS) in 2005 and currently serves as Area Superintendent for Region 1. In this role, he supports schools across the region, works closely with principals, and helps guide district efforts focused on high-quality instruction, positive school culture, and meaningful opportunities for students.

Over the course of more than two decades in MCPS, Rembert has served in a variety of roles that reflect steady growth and a deep commitment to the community. He has been a teacher, athletic coach, dean, assistant principal, and principal, leading schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. His leadership includes time as principal at Maplewood Elementary School, Howard Middle School, and Forest High School, where he focused on building relationships, strengthening academic programs, and creating environments where students and staff feel supported.

From 2021 to 2025, Rembert also contributed to the University of Florida’s Educational Leadership MEd Program Advisory Board, helping inform the preparation and development of future school leaders across the state.

A graduate of Belleview High School, Rembert went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Furman University, where he served as team captain for the football program which was an early leadership experience that shaped his collaborative approach. He later earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Rembert’s commitment to public education is personal. As a long-time resident of Marion County, he and his wife Lorna are the proud parents of two sons who attended MCPS schools and graduated from the district.
