The Advanced Academic Academy magnet program at LWMS focuses on providing a student-centered learning environment where students will be prepared for the demands of rigorous high school magnet programs. The 6th and 7th grade classes will focus on preparing students to take high school course offerings during their 8th grade year. Instruction will focus on advanced language arts writing and reading skills, as well as providing a strong foundation in mathematics. Students in 8th grade will begin their high school career by taking English I Honors, Algebra I Honors, and Physical Science Honors for high school credit.
Our Advanced Academic Academy students have the opportunity to take elective classes in a variety of areas including Agriculture, Art, Band, Carpentry and Architecture, Culinary Arts, Health Occupations, and Logistics. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in clubs such as FFA, HOSA, National Junior Honor Society, and Student Government. Extracurricular activities include volleyball, basketball, cross country, track, school dances, and competitive events such as Brain Bowl and MATHCOUNTS.
