SCHOOL EVENTS IN MARION COUNTY CANCELLED

THROUGH MARCH 24

SPRING BREAK Remains as Planned for March 16-20

MARION COUNTY – Out of an abundance of caution for our students, staff, and community, and because of safety concerns related to COVID-19, ALL extra-curricular events and activities for students in Marion County Public Schools through March 24 have been CANCELLED or POSTPONED.

This includes extra-curricular and sporting competitions, club-based outings, district events, and events attracting more than 250 people.

These cancellations include but are not limited to:

  • Charlie Dixon Elementary Music Festival at First Baptist Ocala
  • Wreaths Across America education visit to Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary
  • Howard Middle School’s trip to Washington, DC
  • Dunnellon Middle School’s trip to Washington, DC
  • Marion Technical College nursing student visits to local nursing / assisted living facilities
  • West Port High School’s JROTC trip to Virginia
  • West Port High School’s band students in New York City (returning early)
  • Forest High School video production students in Washington, DC - coming home early due to national conference cancellation.
  • Belleview High School’s trip to Miami to see the stage production “Hamilton.”
  • Visits to colleges and universities cancelled because of yesterday’s directive to move those campuses to online platforms.

Marion County Public Schools encourages parents and families to ensure their contact information is current. This can be accomplished via Family Access (parent portal) or in person at school.

Further MCPS announcements will be shared on our home page (www.marionschools.net) and Twitter account (@MarionCountyK12).
