HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE

EVENT TO BE HELD SUNDAY

MARION COUNTY – Marion County Public Schools presents an event designed to remember the 11 million lives lost in the Holocaust and Nazi persecution.

This “Days of Remembrance” event comes just three days before the country’s annual commemoration on May 2 established by Congress and held in Washington, DC.

This year’s local event is a Remembrance Ceremony held this Sunday, 5PM, inside the Browne Greaton-Cole Auditorium at Marion Technical Institute.  MTI is located at 1614 E. Ft. King St., Ocala, 34471.

The one-hour event includes video clips, musical performances, and comments from Rabbi Harold Jaye of Temple B’Nai Darom, Ocala Mayor Kent Guinn, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Heidi Maier, and students from various schools including Saddlewood Elementary, Lake Weir, North Marion and West Port High.

Student artwork and assignments focused on the Holocaust will also be on display at the event that is free and open to the public.
