DISTRICT APPOINTMENT PROMPTS

NEW PRINCIPAL CHANGE

MARION COUNTY – The appointment of a new director to oversee the Grants and Federal Programs office of Marion County Public Schools is prompting a principal change at one elementary school.

Cassandra Boston, current principal at Ocala Springs Elementary, will become the new director of the Grants and Federal Programs office later this month.

Replacing her at the principal helm of Ocala Springs is Michelle Cino, a 17-year veteran of the district.

Boston joined MCPS as a math teacher at Belleview Middle in 1995 and later advanced to assistant principal at Reddick-Collier, Fessenden, and Anthony Elementary Schools.  She also served as principal at Evergreen, College Park, and Anthony Elementary Schools before moving to Ocala Springs in 2017.  A graduate of North Marion High School, Boston earned her bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising from Florida State University.  Her master’s in Curriculum and Instruction comes from National-Louis University, as does her Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision.

Cino started with Marion County Public Schools in 2000 and taught at Reddick-Collier, Sparr, and Evergreen Elementary Schools before being named assistant principal at Legacy and Anthony Elementary Schools.  She moved to the AP position at Wyomina Park Elementary last year. Her bachelor’s in Elementary Education comes from St. Leo University, and her master’s in Educational Leadership is from NOVA Southeastern University.

Susan Eatmon, a 22-year employee of the district, replaces Cino as assistant principal at Wyomina Park.  Eatmon’s replacement as AP at Maplewood Elementary will be named in the near future.

These appointments become effective January 22, 2019.
