KING, CUMMINGS ELECTED TO LEAD

MARION COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD

MARION COUNTY – Second-term school board member Kelly King will once again lead her colleagues as chair of the Marion County School Board. She previously chaired the board two years ago.

King accepted the nomination during today’s reorganization meeting.  King, who won her second term on the School Board earlier this month, took her oath of office this morning before being elected as chair.  King represents district five, including most schools in North Marion County and several charter schools.

As chair, King will lead twice-monthly school board meetings and year-round work sessions and serve on various leadership boards throughout the community.

Eric Cummings, a brand new School Board member who also took his oath of office this morning, was elected to the vice-chair position.  He represents district three, including several Ocala schools and many schools located in Southwest Marion County, Dunnellon, and the Marion Oaks area.

Other members of the Marion County School Board include Nancy Stacy (district one) , Beth McCall (district two) and Nancy Thrower (district four).

By unanimous vote, board members also approved the same meeting schedule as in years past – holding board meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays monthly at 5:30PM at 512 SE Third Street in Ocala.
