LIVE BROADCAST TOMORROW FEATURES
SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER OATHS
MARION COUNTY – Two newly-elected and one re-elected Marion County School Board members take their oaths of office tomorrow, Tuesday, November 20, at 11AM in the School Board chambers located at 512 SE Third Street in Ocala.
The event will be broadcast live on the Marion Education Channel and Marion County Public Schools’ YouTube channel (www.YouTube.com/MCPSmedia).
Newly-elected school board member Eric Cummings will take his oath of office from Pastor Warren Hardaway of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Dunnellon. Holding the Bible for Cummings will be his son, Emmanuel Cummings, a seventh grader at Howard Middle School. Cummings will represent District Three, which includes schools primarily in Southwest Marion County, Dunnellon, Marion Oaks, and Ocala.
Nancy Thrower, also newly elected, will take her oath of office from the Rev. James McKinnon, pastor for Lifeline Community Church in Reddick. Robert and Mary Bargar, Thrower’s parents, will hold the Bible for her installation. Representing District Four, Thrower’s area includes many schools in and adjacent to Ocala city limits.
Second-term Board Member Kelly King, re-elected by voters to represent District Five, will take her oath of office from her husband, Steven. King joined the school board in 2014 following her first election. Her district includes schools located in northern Marion County and several charter schools.
School board members serve four-year, staggered terms and regularly meet throughout the year for work sessions and meetings open to the public.
The Marion Education Channel is available on Comcast 99 and Cox 12 cable systems and YouTube.
