PRINCIPAL CHANGE IN STORE FOR
REDDICK-COLLIER ELEMENTARY
MARION COUNTY – Following directives given by Florida’s Department of Education and the State Board of Education, Reddick-Collier Elementary has a new principal starting tomorrow.
Chris Sandy, a long-term experienced leader in Marion County Public Schools, takes the helm of this rural northwestern Marion County school with just over 400 students. Even with student data improving, the school is under the state microscope for its performance on annual testing, and new leadership should refocus efforts to improve student learning.
Sandy first joined Marion County Public Schools in 1982. During her career, she served as assistant principal or principal at Fort McCoy School, Dunnellon Middle, Oakcrest Elementary, and Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary, and was the district’s executive director of elementary education before she retired in 2015. Two years later, she returned to serve at the district level with elementary education.
Sandy received her bachelor’s degree in English and Communication Arts and her master’s degree in Reading Instruction from Michigan State University. Her master’s degree in Educational Leadership comes from the University of Florida.
Current Principal Jolene Vining, who joined the district in 2017 as a new principal, moves to the district’s School Counseling and Assessment Department.
