VANGUARD HIGH SCHOOL TO HOST SERVICE

FOR FORMER BASKETBALL COACH JIM HALEY

MARION COUNTY – The court where Jim Haley launched three basketball teams to state championships will serve as the court for the service celebrating his life and the impact he had on thousands of Marion County students and coaching colleagues.

Haley died November 4, 2018.  His memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, November 17, at 3PM inside the school gymnasium, better known as Jim Haley Court.

Haley joined Marion County Public Schools in 1973 and coached his entire career at Vanguard High School.  In addition to multiple state championships, Haley also started the Kingdom of the Sun basketball tournament, now in its 44th year.

Haley retired from Marion County Public Schools in 2009 after a 36-year career.  To honor Haley and his legacy, Vanguard named its basketball court after him in 2016.

The public is invited to attend Haley’s celebration service at Vanguard High School located at 7 NW 28 Street in Ocala.
