“DADS TAKE YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL DAY”
SET FOR SEPT. 26
MARION COUNTY – A state-wide effort to get positive male role models more involved in students’ lives takes place on Wednesday, September 26, throughout Marion County Public Schools.
“Dads Take Your Child to School Day” offers fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other positive male role models the opportunity to spend quality time with their child while encouraging them to attend school.
Dads and others can walk, ride, bike, drive, or otherwise transport their children to school, drop them off on campus, and wish them a successful day.
Florida’s Department of Education promotes the effort to get fathers and father figures involved in the education and safety of children by volunteering to serve at least one day a year in various school activities.
More than 30 years of research supports the position a positive relationship endures between increased family engagement and student academic success. Additional research underscores when fathers are actively involved in their child’s education, students perform better academically, have fewer discipline problems, and become more responsible adults.
Marion County public schools are participating in this fourth annual event, especially at the elementary level.
