WEATHER RELOCATES THREE
MARION HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATIONS
MARION COUNTY – For the safety of students, school personnel, families, and other special guests, three Marion County high school graduations will move to the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion this weekend due to weather-related concerns.
With 90 percent rain predicted for Friday and 100 percent slated for Saturday, students from Belleview, Dunnellon and Lake Weir High Schools will graduate at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion instead of their high school stadiums, which are uncovered and completely exposed to severe weather.
Following the previously-published schedule except location, Dunnellon High students will graduate Friday at 6PM; Belleview High students will graduate Saturday at 8AM; and Lake Weir High students will graduate Saturday at 7PM.
The Southeastern Livestock Pavilion, located at 2232 NE Jacksonville Rd. in Ocala, offers grandstand seating for 5,000 guests and is protected overhead from inclement weather. It also offers paved parking for 1,000 vehicles.
With heavy rains and tropical conditions predicted for this weekend, district leaders made the decision and will share the change with families at these three schools with phone calls, emails, text messages, and posts to social media.
