MARION COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS NAMED

CAMBRIDGE ‘DISTRICT OF THE YEAR’

MARION COUNTYMarion County Public Schools is the District of the Year for medium-sized school districts, a distinction given by Cambridge International.

Each year, Cambridge International, a world leader in global standards and international education programs, honors the work of three school districts in the United States in large, medium, and small-sized categories.

Cambridge International recognized MCPS because the district increased student access to rigorous Cambridge curriculum, sustained or improved student performance on Cambridge exams, and committed to equity in education for all students.

MCPS offers Cambridge learning opportunities to more than 2,930 students at every MCPS high school and two middle schools.

This award is based on student exams taken during the November 2021 and June 2022 series at the high school level. Over the past two years, MCPS expanded Cambridge International exams so 38% more students now participate in Cambridge coursework. During the same time, students continued performing strongly on the Cambridge exams due to their hard work and investment from parents, teachers, school and district staff.

In the coming weeks, Cambridge International will honor MCPS with media attention and announcements via social media messaging. Cambridge will also present a plaque to mark the honor.
