REGIONAL STEM FAIR KICKS OFF
FEB. 2 IN OCALA
MARION COUNTY – Hundreds of middle and high school students compete head-to-head next week during the Big Springs Regional STEM Fair taking place Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023.
STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The event takes place at the Circle Square Cultural Center inside On Top of the World, 8395 SW 80th St, Ocala, FL 34481.
The annual event draws students from Marion and Sumter Counties, each displaying their own unique science projects. Individual winners from public, private, charter, and home schools advance to this regional level, with dozens of awards handed out in various categories.
Judging takes place Thursday, with winners announced Friday night, February 3, at a special awards ceremony in the Browne Greaton Cole Auditorium at Marion Technical Institute (MTI) located at 1614 E. Ft. King St. in Ocala. Start time is 7 p.m.
Regional winners advance to the Florida State Science Fair in Lakeland, April 4-6. High School students selected as the top state winners then advance to the International Science Fair in Dallas taking place May 13-19.
