CUMMINGS AND CAMPBELL NOW LEADING
MARION COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD
MARION COUNTY – Reverend Eric Cummings will once again lead the Marion County School Board as its chair following a reorganizational meeting this morning.
He previously served as board chair during the 2019-2020 school year.
Allison Campbell, the only other board member nominated for the chair position, was unanimously elected vice-chair.
Both were chosen by fellow School Board Members Don Browning, Kelly King, and Nancy Thrower.
Cummings is a pastor and former corrections officer elected by Marion County voters in 2018. As chair, he leads twice-monthly School Board meetings and year-round work sessions. He also serves on various leadership boards throughout the community and represents district three, including schools in Ocala, Dunnellon and Southwest Marion County.
Campbell is a public relations practitioner and adjunct college professor elected to the School Board in 2020. Campbell also serves various board appointments and may step in for Cummings as needed. She represents district one and schools primarily in Ocala and Southeast Marion County.
By unanimous vote, School Board members also approved the same meeting schedule as in years past – holding board meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays monthly at 5:30 p.m. at 512 SE Third Street in Ocala.
