McCALL RESIGNS FROM

MARION COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD

MARION COUNTY – Long-time educator and child advocate Beth McCall resigned from the Marion County School Board this morning following questions about her residence outside the district she represented.

McCall and her husband recently moved out of District 2 from South Marion County into Ocala, citing family health reasons for the move.

During a school board work session this morning, the school board attorney shared McCall’s resignation letter written to Governor Ron DeSantis:

McCall Resignation Letter

Voters first elected McCall in 2016 and then again in 2020 when she ran unopposed to secure her second four-year term. She submitted her resignation letter, effective immediately, to Governor Ron DeSantis this morning before the School Board’s 9 a.m. work session.

McCall’s resignation takes effect immediately.  The governor’s office will determine who fills the vacant seat.
