MCPS Highlights Free Breakfast During National School Breakfast Week

MCPS HIGHLIGHTS FREE BREAKFAST DURING

NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK

 

MARION COUNTY – Marion County Public Schools showcases its wide arrangement of breakfast options for National School Breakfast Week.  This year’s theme is “Score Big with School Breakfast.”

 

During March 8–12, students will be encouraged to visit school cafeterias to try a specific menu celebrating the occasion. In MCPS, these meals are free for all students as part of the US Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program.

 

Menu features will be as follows and include 100 percent juices and fat-free milk: 

  • March 8 – Cinnamon Toast Crunch pastry and strawberry applesauce
  • March 9 – Ham and cheese on an Hawaiian roll and fresh assorted fruit
  • March 10 – Pancake sausage on a stick and sliced apples
  • March 11 – Eggstravaganza with French toast and fresh assorted fruit
  • March 12 – Mini powdered donuts, mozzarella cheese stick and fresh assorted fruit

 

As the largest food provider in Marion County, the district has served 1,290,856 breakfast meals as of March 1. The celebration of NSBW is expected to feed over 11,000 students per day for the district.

 

National School Breakfast Week celebrates the importance of a nutritious school breakfast fueling students for success. This year’s theme reminds students, parents, and families a healthy school breakfast helps ensure academic success in school so students can “score big” and reach their goals.
