All Marion Students Now Receive Free Meals
MARION COUNTY – Starting this week, all middle and high school students in Marion County Public Schools will receive free meals at no cost to the parent or guardian. This is part of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program.
Elementary students already receive free meals under the USDA National School Lunch Breakfast Program. The addition of secondary students allows for more students to regularly receive nutritious meals and for the district to recoup costs associated with meal service.
On any given day, MCPS serves an average 14,000 breakfasts and 21,000 lunches. During the first 10 weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, the district provided nearly 475,000 student meals.
Marion County Public Schools also now offers free curbside meal service at 10 community locations to children 18 and under regardless of income. Pick-up times vary by regional location:

Parents and guardians picking up meals on behalf of a child must present valid identification such as a child’s government-issued ID card, daycare center record, child’s passport, or any legal document proving parent/guardian identity and relation to the child.
