MARION COUNTY – Wednesday afternoon, a ribbon-cutting event was held for Marion County Acceleration Academies (MCAA), located at 1515 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Unit 222, Ocala, Florida. The event was joined by Marion County Public Schools (MCPS) Superintendent Dr. Diane Gullett, MCAA co-founders Dr. Joseph Wise and Mark Graves, as well as educators and other students taking advantage of the program.

MCAA is a high school dropout re-engagement program that provides youth between the ages of 14-21 an opportunity to complete and earn their high school diploma through a flexible, personalized course of study. The program is free of charge to the student.

Upon graduation, the student’s certification is an authentic high school diploma from the academy, not a GED certificate.

Marion County now becomes the 18th campus in a nationwide network of Acceleration Academies. The academies were created to work with students who have struggled in traditional schools for various reasons, including those who need the flexibility to work full-time or care for their children.

For more information, contact MCAA’s Chief Enrollment Officer Lisa Meckley at 980.340.7424 or lmeckley@accelerationacademy.org, MCPS’ Area Superintendent of Secondary Schools Chad Frazier, or MCPS’ Director of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction & Digital Learning Dr. Danielle Livengood at 352.671.4151.
