Hello Parents and Students!
The second week of school is coming to a close and all students should have their schedules finalized. The first two weeks often see adjustments to schedules and classrooms, however now that things are settling down, I would like to take a moment to address some routines that your student will have going forward in 6th Grade Math: as week three begins, you will see more consistency in my homework, quiz, and test routines.
I will normally be assigning homework on Monday’s and Wednesday’s, and this year I am exploring primarily using an online homework platform that will allow for homework help resources built right into the homework questions. This “Question Help” feature is an invaluable resource for students to use to assist in completing problems that they may be having difficulty with. Please note: if your student does not have access to a computer and internet at home, I will have a paper option available in these cases. I have taken time in class to walk students through accessing the homework at home, and have provided a link to a tutorial in the links section of my teacher website: (www.marionschools.net/Domain/20512)
Students will have at least one quiz given nearly every week, covering old material, new material, or a little of both.
Tests will be given normally every other week, or at the conclusion of a Unit.
Students record their weekly agenda into their planner each Monday at the beginning of class. I will post this weekly agenda to my teacher website and will keep parents informed of any changes to it.
ClassDojo is a tool I use for communicating with parents, in addition to email and phone. I have attempted to invite each student’s parents by using the email address provided on the syllabus acknowledgement paper at the end of my syllabus (students were asked to have this form signed by their parents and then returned to class). If you have yet connected to my class through ClassDojo please contact me so I can send you an invite! ClassDojo is an excellent way to keep connect with me regarding happenings in the classroom and to hear about upcoming assignments and tests. I will use both ClassDojo and my teacher website for communicating this information.
I look forward to a great year of Mathematics! Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

At the beginning of the school year, I send home a supply list requesting students bring in certain key supplies which will be used by your student throughout the year. This year I am requesting students bring in note cards and a black composition book. Please look to the "Files" section of this webpage and click on "Supply List" for details. These materials are requested by Monday, August 19th.
Thank you, and please let me know if you have any questions.
