Eric Cummings joined the Marion County School Board in November 2018. Elected by voters to a second term in 2022, Cummings is a corrections officer with the Florida Department of Corrections and pastors New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
A Dunnellon resident, Cummings holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Edward Waters College as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Theology from United Theological Seminary and Bible College.
Cummings lives in Dunnellon and graduated from Forest High School (’87). He believes educating children requires a team effort between schools and their communities to involve parents, teachers, administrators and school board members.
Cummings and his wife have six children and four grandchildren.
His first term ran 2018-2022 and his current term runs 2022-2026.
