VANGUARD STUDENTS AWARDED TWO-YEAR FLORIDA PREPAID SCHOLARSHIPS
MARION COUNTY – Superintendent Dr. Diane Gullett recently surprised Vanguard High School students Madison Rock and Rylie Winterbauer at Fessenden Elementary School with certificates awarding them two-year college scholarships provided to the district through Florida Prepaid.
Both students are members of the Future Educators Academy at Vanguard and are aspiring teachers. Each received a 2-Year Florida College Plan scholarship, valued at over $8,000.
The scholarship covers 60 credit hours at a Florida college, creating an affordable pathway to encourage teaching as a profession. Upon completing the program, recipients are guaranteed admission to a Florida State University to continue their education.
Through the Future Educators Academy, Rock and Winterbauer are gaining valuable, hands-on teaching experience. The program equips students with the skills, mentorship, and real-world exposure needed to pursue careers in education.
Under the supervision of certified teachers, the students have taught in classrooms at Oakcrest and Ocala Springs Elementary Schools, Madison Street Academy, and most recently, Fessenden Elementary.
Adjahnae Piner, coordinator and instructor of the Future Educators Academy, praised the students stating, “They’re very deserving, they are hard workers, and I know for a fact they’re going to be awesome teachers. They have that ability to be able to teach with love."
