GROUNDBREAKING FOR NEW MARION COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SET FOR DEC. 16

MARION COUNTY – Marion County Public Schools will break ground for its newest high school on Monday, Dec. 16.
The event takes place at 10 a.m. for New High School “CCC” in Marion Oaks. The address for this groundbreaking is 1350 SW 165 St., Ocala, 34473.
This new high school, the first public high school built in Marion County since 2003, fronts Marion Oaks Manor and will accommodate a growing student population in Southwest Marion County. It features two-story construction and a third story framed for future student growth.
The new school’s highlights include:
- Three building complexes with tilt-up wall construction, enhanced security features and minimal entry points surrounding a central courtyard area
- Administrative building with covered portico front entry, first floor office areas, and second-story media center
- Full-service cafeteria with seating for 858 (indoor and outdoor)
- Art and Music suites
- Performing arts auditorium with seating for 800
- Approximately 310,000 square feet under roof
- 61 classrooms and 20 labs
- 867 parking spaces
- 1,332-seat gymnasium
- 2,000-seat athletic stadium for football/track and field plus playing fields for baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, soccer, softball, and tennis
- Built on 115 acres already owned by the School Board of Marion County
- Additional room on-site for future expansion as needed
- Anticipated construction cost of $154 million
The School Board of Marion County borrowed funds to build this school and two new elementary schools already under construction in Southwest Marion County. Those two schools are scheduled to open in August.
New High School “CCC” will eventually be renamed and is set to open in August 2026 with capacity for 2,011 students. Following third-floor completion, student capacity increases to 2,711.
