MARION STUDENTS ACHIEVING MORE WHEN IT COMES
TO HIGHER ACADEMIC TESTS
MARION COUNTY – More Marion County students are taking advanced tests now more than ever thanks to ever-expanding academic options and choices.
The latest scores show Marion County students taking more Advanced Placement (AP) and Advanced International Certificate in Education (AICE) exams with a higher pass rate.
When it comes to AICE results this year:
- MCPS students took 4,474 exams, almost 800 more than last year;
- MCPS students earned passing scores on 2,669 exams (vs. 2,296 last year); and
- Dunnellon, Lake Weir, and West Port High Schools offered more AICE courses than prior years.
Regarding this year’s AP testing:
- MCPS students took 3,262 exams this year, over 400 more than last year;
- 1,679 MCPS students took at least one exam – 40 more than last year;
- MCPS students scored 3 or higher on 62% of all exams taken – five points higher than last year;
- MCPS increased the pass rate and number of exams taken for three years running; and
- 321 MCPS students took the first-time-offered AP Precalculus exam with a 61% pass rate.
Passing advanced tests can lead to students earning early college credit and college scholarships.
