FOUR MARION SCHOOLS RECOGNIZED

NATIONALLY FOR MAGNET SUCCESS

MARION COUNTY – Four Marion County schools – all part of Marion County Public Schools (MCPS) -- earned national honors recently from the Magnet Schools of America Association.

Belleview High, Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary, Dunnellon High, and Howard Middle Schools earned “Magnet School of Distinction” honors this year.

For Dunnellon High, it’s the fourth year in a row to be named a “Magnet School of Distinction.”

The National Merit Awards are highly-competitive. To even be considered, each school must submit a comprehensive application that is judged on commitment to high academic standards, school diversity, specialized curriculum and instruction, family engagement, and community partnerships.

National Merit Awards are presented annually and are only handed out to the most prominent magnet schools in the country according to the Magnet Schools of America Association.
