‘WALK YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL DAY’

SET FOR TOMORROW

MARION COUNTY – Each day, thousands of students in Marion County walk to school. Each day, they may encounter different scenarios along the way that could question their safety.

To educate students and their families about such hazards, “Walk Your Child to School Day” will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 5, for students and families of Wyomina Park Elementary School.

Students and families will gather at nearby Wyomina Park (several blocks north of the school along Northeast 10 Street) for the 6:30 a.m. start and walk south along Northeast 12 Avenue to the school.

Children participating in the program will walk in groups led by local law enforcement officers, Marion County Public Schools’ staff, and other community volunteers. During the walk, groups will discuss pedestrian safety, physical activity, and the environment.

Parents are encouraged to participate by walking with their children, along with local city and county dignitaries, private and government agency representatives, and Wyomina Park Elementary teachers and staff members.

The event is coordinated and hosted by the Marion County Community Traffic Safety Team.
