2026 SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM

MARION COUNTY – When school is out for the summer, access to consistent, nutritious meals can become a challenge for many families. Marion County Public Schools (MCPS) is committed to helping bridge that gap by once again providing free meals to children throughout the community.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) offers free meals to all children ages 1 through 18, with no registration or paperwork required. Children may visit any participating location, regardless of whether they are enrolled in summer school.

Last summer, the program served more than 90,000 meals to children in the community. This year, approximately 142,000 summer meals are anticipated, including an estimated 52,000 meals provided through non‑congregate meal kits, significantly expanding access for families.

The district is serving meals at 31 schools and 14 off-site/community locations throughout Ocala and Marion County. Funded through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the program includes traditional congregate meal service, where meals are consumed on-site, along with expanded non-congregate options at select rural locations.

At most locations, meals are served on-site during designated times. At 10 rural locations, families may also receive take-home meal kits, which include pre-packaged breakfasts and lunches for multiple days. Some sites offer 3-day meal kits, while others provide a full 7-day supply, allowing families to pick up a week’s worth of meals in a single visit.

The program continues through late July, depending on location. School sites are closed on Fridays and July 2 (observed Independence Day holiday), with other dates and times varying by site.

MCPS is proud to offer the SFSP at the following locations:
