Sunrise Elementary provides a STEAM magnet for all students. Neighborhood students automatically qualify. All other students are welcome to apply using the Marion County School Choice application. The STEAM program is open to all students, including those with disabilities, English Language Learners, and general education students. As a result, all students are immersed in instruction that reflects a strong STEAM focus.
We are committed to providing students with the highest quality learning experiences that are directly tied to our magnet STEAM theme and state standards that will allow students to not only meet but to exceed their learning goals. Our instructional staff works collaboratively, on a weekly basis, to infuse our STEAM theme into every aspect of our school. Effective lesson design is one of our primary areas of focus as a STEAM Magnet school, and teachers are receiving intensive training using the Learning Focused Framework. Also through our partnership with Discovery Education, our teachers are regularly implementing instructional strategies that puts the learning in the hands of the students as teachers take a facilitative role.
