For technical issues with school-distributed Chromebooks, users can call the Parent Service Desk Helpline at 352.867.2100. This helpline operates Monday–Friday, 7:30AM-4:30PM (wait times can vary).  Please note: technicians cannot resolve issues with Internet connections or student passwords.

Marion County Public Schools may record online classroom sessions utilizing third-party platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.).  These recordings will only be used for educational purposes and may be shared on other learning platforms.  If you do not want your child’s image or identifying information recorded, utilize your device/platform controls to stop the camera feed from your device.

This 2019/20 school year, I am the general education teacher for a select group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  We use a variety of gen. ed. materials and I supplement those materials with additional resources that may present learning and acivities in a more individualized way.  We participate in all state and district assessments with appropriate accommodations if applicable.

I also am acting as support facilitator for ESE students in world history, earth science, 6th grade language arts, and 6th grade math.  This job entails providing support to the ESE student in the general education setting.  This support may be in the form of clarifying or restating directions, providing cues for on tasks behaviors, documenting and supporting accommodations that are used and or needed, working independently with students or in small groups, and I also gather and analyze data that provides information to help students gain full access to curriculum.  I also am acting ESE case manager for my ESE case load, and I help with the writing of annual reviews and other ESE functions.  I do attend classes with students and have an A and B day rotation.  While my job description is ESE support facilitator, I delight in working with all students in a classroom, not just ESE.  Oh yes, and other ways of serving students as support facilitator are by consulting monthly or more with teachers for students with consultation as a service, and I measure progress and report on progress reports that will be attached to report cards.  The general education teachers I work with this year are Ms. Wise, Mrs. Rubert, Ms. Steagald, Mrs. Rowan, and Mr. Raine.

I do have a Master's Degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Special Education and a Bachelor's of Science in Health Education.  I have taught in Tennessee, Alaska, Arkansas, Missouri, and plan to finish my career here in Florida.  My and other teachers licenses are available for view on the Florida Dept. of Education website.

  • Week of May 18, 2020-You have 1week of new assignments left.  That is 2 lessons.  These lessons will be individualized by me: Mrs. McConnell.  I will assign a lesson based on your present level and previous participation in assignments.  A new lesson will not be provided until an "old" lesson has been completed.  Lessons will build upon one another.  It is essential you finish lesson A before you go to lesson B, then finish lesson C and finally lesson D. A grade will be given for each lesson.  The last week: May 25th, through May 29th, will be a time you might work on past due lessons for language arts or lessons for another class.  Check your grades often and you will see what needs to be done.  I promise, I will help you.  Just call me or email.
