    Mr. Hawkins Teacher Page

Welcome to United States History and Economics with Financial Literacy.  According to the Florida Department of Education, I am certified as a "Highly Qualified" teacher in the areas of Social Sciences 6-12 and Physcial Education K-12.  Other areas of my background are as a professional athlete, college head coach, and the business world.  I have been a Head Tennis Coach at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY and Central Florida Community College, (CFCC), now the College of Central Florida, Ocala, FL.  In 2001, I led CFCC to the national college championship.  Two starters on that team were former DHS Tigers!  I am proud to say I am a United States Army Veteran.  GO ARMY!  My proudest accomplishments are my two children.  They have gone on to become good citizens and great productive members of society in the fields of fashion and technology.

In my time here at Dunnellon HS, almost seven years, I have served as a peer teacher, on the SAC and literacy committees, as an after school tutor, ticket taker, and helped coach six athletic teams.  While the DHS head golf coach, I led the program to the school's first-ever district team championship.  Students have gotten to know that I write prompt, pretty darn good recommendations for colleges, scholarships, and jobs.  This past academic year, 75% of recommended students received local scholarships totally $12.500 and during the past three years, 96 students have gotten jobs.
