B.S. Mathematics & Computer Science

Ms. Filmon

My name is Jennifer Filmon. I am new to North Marion High School but I have been teaching for 15 years. I spent the last 12 years teaching at Chiefland High School in Levy county. I love math and Geometry especially and am excited that I will be teaching that again this year. I was born and raised in South Carolina. I attended the University of South Carolina-Aiken on a full academic scholarship where I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics & Computer Science graduating at the top of my degree program. I am very much a math nerd! I moved to Florida and lived for almost 15 years in Gainesville before I moved to Ocala this summer. I have two kids. Joseph is 18 and just graduated from Chiefland in May and Ashley is a 10th grader and Varsity cheerleader at Chiefland this year. In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching Netflix, small and large adventures, and spending time with the people I love.

My classroom philosophy is one that mixes concepts of personal responsibility with grace, accountability with forgiveness, and striving for accuracy while learning from mistakes. I will push you hard because I know that EVERY STUDENT is capable of being successful when given the proper tools and support.
