Ms. Oquendo
Welcome! My name is Rebeca Oquendo. I teach Traditional Spanish 2 and Pre-IB Spanish 2 here at Vanguard. Both of my parents were born and raised in Puerto Rico and I grew up hearing and speaking Spanish in my household. I took Spanish every year from 8th grade until my senior year in high school. I received a B.A. in Spanish and Psychology from Albright College in Pennsylvania. My intentions were to teach Spanish right after college; however, life had a different plan. I worked in the Mental Health field for about 9 years. I enjoyed helping people but, after a while, I felt like I needed a change and began to consider a career switch. I started teaching last year after being presented with a great opportunity here at Vanguard. Although we are facing some new challenges, I am looking forward to working with you all and I hope we can have a very productive year.
If you ever need to contact me, please e-mail me at rebeca.oquendo@marion.k12.fl.us.
Students, if you need to meet with me, my office hours are before school from 7:30am to 8:30am and after school from 2:50pm to 3:15pm. Schedule an appointment with me to make sure I am present and do not have a meeting.
Parents/guardians, if you would like to meet with me personally, please coordinate a parent teacher conference through our Guidance counsel Department by calling 352-671-4900.
