Welcome to Mrs. Johnson's Class
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. I am excited to, once again, be teaching ASD modified curriculum. This is my second year teaching this population and I fully anticipate just as much success this year as we saw last year. I am excited to be back in class with your children, as well as welcome some new faces.
A little about me; although I am only in my second year teaching, I have been an employee of Marion County Schools for 10 years. I started out in the clinic at Vanguard High school. After three years, I moved to attendance. I became a widow in 2016 and decided to make some changes. In 2017 I moved to MTI, in a new position, the IPC and I went back to school. After gaining my degree in 2019, I decided to move into the classroom. I have four adult children, two boys and two girls. They are my heart.
Mrs. Leslie is with us again this year. She has been at Maplewood for many years. Mr. Zack is new to our classroom. He started at Maplewood last year. Together it is our goal to meet your child right where they are and grow with them.
I am available to you and your child via e-mail at tara.johnson@marion.k12.fl.us and MCPS Teacher Website anytime. We will also be using ClassDojo this year for daily communications. Please look for the invitation in the paperwork that comes home on the first day of school.
Our supply list is short: headphones that your child can tolerate and edibles that can be used for reinforcements throughout the learning day. Everything else will be supplied and each child will have their own box with these supplies, none will be shared.

Parents and Guardians, your child is served in the ASD Modified Curriculum Class which includes behavior management services as a part of your child’s ongoing support. The school Behavior Specialist, Amie Perez, services these needs. She can be reached at amie.perez@marion.k12.fl.us or call (352)236-0500 x 55708.
