Welcome to Miss D'Auria's online classroom!
"It takes a village to raise a chiild." Though many of us are probably familiar with this quote, creating the community it speaks of oftentimes gets lost in our everyday lives. One of my goals as a teacher is to help facilitate a relationship between me and the families that enter our classroom. This school year, your children will strengthen one of the most beneficial skills they will ever gain-- reading to learn. It is not an easy feat, but as a village and a community, your child will not only succeed as a reader, but excel in their education. Our classroom is a space that openly welcomes and accepts parents and guardians as significant members of the village we call, "Fourth Grade".
In this time of uncertainty and trial, I hope you and your family can lean on me and the supports from Belleview-Santos Elementary. Whenever you have a question or are in need of anything, please, let me know so I can direct you to the best resource possible.
This school year is full of uncertainty for most, but you can rest assured that we are doing everything we can to make your child and your family as safe as possible. Hand washing lessons will be taught along with proper face mask usage. Your child will also be seated six-feet apart at their own independent desk. Water bottles are a must, for drinking out of water fountains is prohibited this entire school year. Lastly, though students are permitted to have a bookbag this 2020-2021 school year, I am advising against the transportation of them only to help fight the spread of germs.
If your child shows any sign of COVID-19 (fever, cough, fatigue, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, diarrhea, or shortness of breath), then they will be sent home for 10 days. If your child is sent home, then their siblings will also be sent home for 14 days. The only way your child will be allowed to come back to school before the 10 days are complete is by supplying the school with a doctor's note stating:
- Your child does not have COVID 19
- Your child has some other ailment or illness
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we try to answer questions you may have. We are all in uncharted territory, but we will learn and modify our practices together.
