Ms. Elizabeth Rocco
I am Elizabeth Rocco and this is my third year teaching Intensive Reading at Howard Middle School . This year I have three classes, 8th grade Escalate, System 44 and Fast Forward.
These reading programs are tailored for diverse students that need support to master skills necessary to acheive success both in school and in the rapidly changing world. Reading programs can address struggles including phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension deficits. Every child can excel given the proper support, and a mindset focused on growth and perseverence.
Prior to coming to Howard, I taught Intensive Reading for 10th grade and 12th grade at North Marion High School and English III and English III Honors at West Port High School. I have also worked as a substitute teacher for MCPS.
I was born and raised in New Britain, CT and graduated from New Britain High School (Go Hurricanes!). I attended the University of Connecticut (Go Huskies!), earning a BA in Liberal Arts. I studied in London, England during my Junior Year, and in addition to traveling throughout the UK, spent time in France, Italy, Greece and Ireland. I enjoy traveling and experiencing other cultures.
In addition to CT, I lived in Richmond, VA for twelve years, then moved to Ocala in 2003.
My hobbies include, reading, traveling, and spending time with my pets, whom you can see in the Gallery tab on this website. My spouse and I also enjoy watching movies, cooking and spending time with our families.
As crazy as this year has been, I look forward to meeting new students, and seeing some friendly faces! Go Bulls!
