Mrs. Instructional/Curriculum Coaches

My name is Mrs. Arnold and I've been in the world of education for 12.5 years. I was born and raised in Ocala, Fl. I attended Eighth Street Elementary, Osceola Middle, and Vanguard High School. I graduated from Florida A&M University (FAMU) with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism and I graduated from the same university with a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. I love the colors ORANGE and GREEN. :0) I have a son that is in the 5th grade and a turtle and fish as pets.

I began my teaching career in Tallahassee, Fl. where I taught 2nd grade for 3 years. I moved back to Ocala, and I've been here ever since. I've taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades throughout my teaching career. I'm currently the math/science coach at Anthony Elementary School. My ultimate goal is to open my own school one day for troubled teens.

Here are some Reading tips for you to try at home with your student:

  1. Read alongside your child. This shows them that you think reading is important.
  2. Ask your child to read aloud to you.
  3. Read aloud to your child. (This lets your child hear what fluent reading sounds like)
  4. Ask your child questions about the story.
  5. Find a special area in the house that could be a quiet reading zone.
  6. Expose your child to all types of print (newspapers, magazines, etc.).
  7. Take trips to the public library regularly.
  8. Take time to seek your child’s reading interests.
