Mrs. Cavalier

I am an Interior Designer by trade and a teacher by passion.  I have a Bachelors of Science degree in the School of Visual Arts from The Florida State University with a heavy focus in Art History.  I worked designing Hotels in Atlanta, Georgia for several years before I returned to my hometown of Ocala, Florida.  Since then, I have worked teaching pre-school Bible study and have several years experience in children's and youth ministry at my church.  I love to sketch, paint, write calligraphy, and design/sew costumes.  I love art because it allows me to try new things without fear of failing.  In fact, some of my greatest creations were a result of risks I've taken and failures I've learned from.  Art is not safe and great art cannot be created without risk and experimentation.  My job as your child's art teacher is to mentor your young artist and help them to explore the wonders of creative expression.  Every student has a unique point of view and my goal this year is to help each one find it and express it without fear of failure.  I will teach them that a failed artistic experiment is not a failure but an opportunity to learn and perfect one's craft.  I tell them that nothing will make me sadder than if our class projects end up looking identical.  Always encourage your artist, because in our studio, we are all trying and taking risks.  Our Art Adventure starts now.
