Subject Areas Taught at Oakcrest

Accelerated Reader is offered school wide to increase reading. Students take part in the Jim Harbin Media Festival as well as the Sunshine Book Bowl. Students also work in the computer lab utilizing Orchard.

Reading / Writing

Our core curriculum for reading is Macmillan McGraw Treasurers. We also use Successmaker computer based program (Supplemental), Orchard (Supplemental), Read Naturally (Supplemental), Reading Intervention kits (Intensive), Sidewalks (Intensive), Triumphs (Intensive), and small group teacher based activities.

Mathematics

Macmillan Math is our core curriculum. Additionally, we use Successmaker (Supplemental), Fast Math (Supplemental) and Acaletics (Supplemental) as well as teacher directed manipulative activities.

Science

Our science program is Harcourt. We also offer hands-on science experiments on early release days.
