    The Supply Chain

Logistics is also referred to as Supply Chain Management and material handling. It is the lifeblood of not only our national economy, but also of the world economy. Buying and selling are the primary activities in which people engage and without supply chain management, one can say there is no civilization as we know it.

Logistics started as a military term used to identify activities involved in moving large quantities of equipment, men, and supplies. No military action can be successfully conducted without timely and adequate supplies. Today, the term applies to the full life cycle of extraction of raw materials, manufacturing, moving, storing, and shipping of ordered goods and services.
