Class Announcements

I am so happy to be your teacher this year! We are all on a new adventure with online learning. We are going to be using a new program called Microsoft Teams. This is very user friendly and has everything you and your child will need to be sucessful for this year. I cannot answer tech questions, but.... Tech Support is here to help all parents and students with school Chromebooks!

Meanwhile, all of you have been great in giving me your email addresses and I have sent out the invites for getting connected in Classdojo. The quicker you sign up for the app, the quicker we can be in communication with each other and I can answer any questions. As of 8/23, I have only 12 out of 29 parents connected. If you need any help getting connected, please let me know!

Remember that even though we are online during the day, parent questions and comments should be left for the end of the day so it doesn't interrupt teaching. This is why Classdojo is so helpful! I will always strive to get back to you that day.

Parents, encourage your children to show their utmost best behavior online during class, and to reflect all that you have taught them throughout their lives so far. This will help everyone have a great, cooperative experience! Thank you parents for being awesome!!

Office Hours

  • Office Hours: 2:15-3:00

Parents, although I am working online for this quarter, I have dismissal duties at the end of the day. On Mondays and Thursdays, I will be doing car duty which can last until 2:30. Your best bet is to message me through Classdojo or email me anytime, joy.lyle@marion.k12.fl.us.

If you would like to have a paren/teacher conference, simply message me through Classdojo, or call, and we can meet either online or face to face. I prefer for the student to be present and contribute to the meeting.

Marion County Public Schools may record online classroom sessions utilizing third-party platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.).  These recordings will only be used for educational purposes and may be shared on other learning platforms.  If you do not want your child’s image or identifying information recorded, utilize your device/platform controls to stop the camera feed from your device.

About Ms. Lyle

Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Joy Lyle

I was born in historic Boston, Massachusetts he year Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. I grew up just north of Boston, about 25 miles, in Beverly which is  the birthplace of the American Navy and the home of Nick's Roast Beef. Trust me, it's the best in Massachusetts. Beverly is located in what is called the North Shore, and has lots of beaches, historic sites and pretty famous neighbors, such as Salem, Marblehead and Gloucester.

I graduated from Beverly High School in 1987, and then went to Salem State University for my Bachelor's degree in English, with a concentration in Literature and a minor in Music and Film. I also got my Master's Degree in Education at Salem State University in 2000. Before I came to Florida, I taught in a few schools as a full time teacher and also as a substitute. This gave me quite a lot of experience that I have treasured and used since that time.

I moved down to Florida because some of my family moved here in 2006. My first teaching job in Florida was at Greenway, where I taught 4th grade for two years and first grade for one year. After that, I taught third and fourth grade at Belleview Santos Elementary, and now Marion Oaks Elementary. I am very happy to be a part of the MOES family.

And last, but not least, I have my furry family......four cats (Rowdy, Jack, Katniss and Bastian) and a sheba inu dog named Millie.
