School is Cool!

    Happy Magnificent May!

It is our last month of the year, and I can hardly believe it! Wednesday, 5/1, and Thursday, 5/2, is our FSA Reading assessment (sessions 1 and 2). The following week is our FSA Math (5/6 & 5/7) and Science (5/9 & 5/10) tests. Students have been learning throughout the year. They are ready!

Please remind your children that they are super capable, extraordinary learners, and that you believe in them. I believe in them too! :) Getting a good night's sleep and having a scrumptious breakfast really helps too.

As you know, your child is almost a middle school student. It will be here in no time! Be encouraged. Your child has grown so much this year, and I am so pleased that I could be apart of their journey in life and to help them be ready for middle school academically. Your children are bright, capable, and kind.

I posted the 'important dates' pink flyer below to help keep up with some of the 5th grarde 'happenings' at the end of the year. The rest of the year will seem to go even faster at this point. These dates are posted on Dojo and are stapled to the front inside of their planner (B1).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!

    Love,

    Mrs. Lamperski

    Happy Auspicious April, Friends! :)

What a time of year! Tuesday, April 1, 2019, is our FSA Writing Assessment. Our students are prepared, and they have been writing, using their rubric to 'color-code' their own writing as well as their peers' writing. Alot has been learned through this process! :)

Now that our FSA Writing will be done, please see the FSA Assessment dates below for Reading, Math, and Science. With each test, please encourage your child that they are so capable and will do well. They need us to believe in them and to remind them that they can accomplish 'hard things'.

    FSA Dates 2019

Enjoy the rest of your child's 5th grade year before they are middle schoolers. They are growing so much! Yearbooks are pre-selling now, and later on in the year, we will have a 'yearbook signing party' for a little bit, meeting with the other 5th grade classes. Students really like that opportunity to have their friends from other classes sign their book too.

As always, if you have any questions, please let me know. Email and Dojo are great ways of contacting me. Thank you, and happy auspicious April!

    Happy Marvelous March!

Spring is in the air! :) Students have been learning about figurative/ author's language, context clues, correlative conjunctions, prepositions, prepositional phrases, and many new idioms! In addition, students have been interpreting figurative/ author's language and understanding the impact figurative/ author's language has on texts, whether fictional or informational.

In addition, we have been working on our writing. I will send home students' writing scores along with a letter stating what writing scores students need to specifically to develop. We will be writing even more than usual preparing for our FSA writing on Tuesay, April 2, 2019.

    FSA Dates 2018 2019

Thank you for all that you do for your children and for our school. YOU are appreciated! It is a pleasure being your child's teacher. :) Please remember to have your child to read daily for at least 20 minutes. If you ever have any questions or comments, please contact me via Dojo, email, notes to school, or a phone call. I welcome them. Thank you so much!

Our class read the wonderful novel, Wonder, by R.J. Palacio. It is quite amazing! If you look under the 'Booklist' tab (on the left side of my teacher webpage), you will find some more information about it. Please ask you children questions about what is happening in our book. If you have any questions, as always, please let me know! :) Mrs. Lamperski

Very Interesting!...
