    School Profile and Demographics

The faculty, staff and administration at East Marion believe that all children can succeed given the appropriate time and resources. We will work hard to ensure that each student maximizes their ability and reaches their fullest potential.

East Marion Elementary is located in a beautiful setting, tucked away in the pines of the Ocala National Forest. We are close enough to State Road 40 to make it easily accessible, yet far enough away not to be bothered by the noise and traffic.

Our school was established in 1922, and it's considered to be a true community school. We have educated many of the parents and grandparents of our current student population. The present facility was built in 1974, after a fire destroyed part of the main campus. In the spring of 2003, two new eight-classroom wings were built to house students in grades three through five, a computer lab, and a conference room. Additional renovations to the existing facilities that year which included new air conditioning units in the main building, new paint on the trim of the main building, and new carpet in the Media Center. East Marion is one of the larger elementary schools in Marion County, built to house over 730 students.

The Teacher/Student ratio for the school year is as follows: Kindergarten through third grades, 1 teacher for every 18 students; and fourth and fifth grades, 1 teacher to every 22 students.
