Common Internet Safety Rules for Children and Teens

  • Never give out personal information like full name, address, social security number
  • Do not post photos on public sites
  • Do not open an email, click on a link, or respond to a message from someone you don't know
  • Notify a trusted adult if you receive hurtful or bullying type messages
  • Do not meet in person with anyone you only have an online relationship with - tell a trusted adult is someone is trying to convince you to meet with them
  • Parents should set time limits for online time and devices should only be used in common areas with supervision

Remind your student that threatening and bullying communication is not allowed and in many cases is a crime. Online Safety is everyone's responsibility!
