Booster/Outside Support Organizations (OSO)

As required by School Board policy Po9211 – Booster Club/Outside Support Organizations, the Marion County School Board requires that each OSO purchase insurance to protect both itself and the Board. Due at the beginning of each school year or within 30 days of the organization’s formation.

Comprehensive General Liability

  • Limit $1,000,000 Per Occurrence
  • The Agent must be told to name The School Board of Marion County, Florida as ADDITIONAL INSURED; and
  • Coverage must be on a PRIMARY AND NON-CONTRIBUTORY basis.
  • This form of coverage protects the OSO against claims brought against them based on bodily injury or property damage.

OPTIONAL RECOMMENDED COVERAGE FOR INCORPORATED GROUPS:

Director’s & Officer’s Liability

  • Limit $1,000,000 Per Claim

Crime Coverage

  • No Limit

This form of coverage protects the OSO against claims for financial damage allegedly brought on by negligence or error in judgment. While Comprehensive General Liability is required, it is highly recommended that each OSO discuss both Director and Officer Liability and Crime coverage with their respective agent. Procuring this type of coverage is prudent for any entity that handles money and will help further protect the entity against embezzlement among other exposures.

PLEASE NOTE: Each OSO should prepare a list of planned fundraising events for the coming school year and present this to both the School Administrator and their insurance agent. Doing so will assist all parties to better understand the various insurance coverage implications as they relate to the scope of the OSO’s operations. Should any of the planned events not be covered under a standard general liability policy, the OSO will need to provide a special event policy that does provide coverage. Please discuss this with your agent.

Once coverage is purchased, please have your Agent send a CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE to: Marion County Public Schools Attn: Risk Management 1105 SW 7th Rd. Ocala, Florida 34471 Or via fax to 352-671-4100.

Marion County Public Schools has no affiliation with the following entity; however, it may benefit your OSO to review the information contained in the link below. Failure to meet the requirements as outlined above will result in non-approval of OSO events.
