MARION COUNTY – Marion Technical College (MTC), part of Marion County Public Schools, will break ground on a new $5.57 million expansion project on Friday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m.

MTC, located at 1014 SW 7 Rd. in Ocala, received funding from the 2023 Florida Legislature to develop new automotive, diesel, and aviation mechanic programs – all requiring new infrastructure and significant investment in the local campus.

The facility will be built on the southeast corner of campus and feature 16,000 square feet of classroom and work space for all three programs plus another 15,000 square feet for parking. The project is slated for completion in September 2025.

When finished, up to 100 dual-enrolled high school and adult students can become automotive general service technicians, automotive collision refinishing technicians, aviation powerplant/airframe mechanics, and diesel systems technicians. With Marion County quickly advancing its reputation as a logistics and distribution hub and home to the Ocala International Airport, MTC’s expansion programs will help meet the expanding demand for these careers and keep graduates local to the Ocala/Marion County community.
