Family Focus Events Provide Resources for Student Success

MARION COUNTY – Families looking to help their students succeed both inside and outside the classroom can take advantage of Family FOCUS events throughout this school year.

Family FOCUS (Families need Ongoing Communication, Useful resources, and Support) sessions provide help and services to parents, families, guardians, and students with a myriad of school and community resources.

Part of Marion County Public Schools’ strategic plan, these sessions take place on Saturday mornings with themed approaches including:

  • Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 - “Take A Walk Down MCPS Lane”

Lake Weir High School, 10351 SE Maricamp Rd., Ocala

9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Join us to learn how MCPS plans to support your child to succeed academically and remain resilient. Come learn how you can partner with us for a successful year.

  • Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 - “Fall Festival of Learning”

West Port High School, 3733 SW 80 Ave., Ocala

9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Families will enjoy learning new skills and concepts to support learning at home and on the go.

  • Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024 - “Together Toward Tomorrow”

Forest High School, 5000 SE Maricamp Rd., Ocala

9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Thinking about the future? Come learn how to help your child prepare for their next transition.

  • Saturday, April 6, 2024 - “Catch the Summer Wave”

Dunnellon High School, 10055 SW 180 Ave. Rd., Dunnellon

9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Come learn fun ways to keep your child engaged in learning over the summer months.

Family FOCUS sessions provide free childcare, exhibit hall with community and district resources, entertainment, and giveaways. Free transportation is available for anyone five years and older, and each child receives free books to take home.

Family FOCUS sessions showcase the efforts by MCPS to cultivate a stronger partnership between families, schools, and the community.
