Vacation Benefits

Vacation hours are earned and accumulated by twelve-month employees only. Hours are earned on a biweekly basis following the years of Marion County School Board experience below. A break in service from the District for more than 30 days places you back to year zero (0).

0 to 5 years: 6 hours biweekly
5 to 10 years: 7 hours biweekly
10 years or more: 8 hours biweekly

The district closes during spring and winter break each year and twelve-month employees are required to use their vacation hours to keep them in a paid status during said breaks.

A maximum of 480 hours can be carried over from one fiscal year to the next. Any hours exceeding this maximum will be deducted from the employee's record.

A maximum of 480 hours can be paid for terminal pay benefits.

To inquire about terminal sick leave or vacation benefits, please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement or contact Stephanie Slobodzian.
