Migrant Education Program

Marion County's Migrant Education Program is a Title I, Part C-federally funded initiative designed to provide assistance and services to meet the educational needs of migratory parents and their eligible children.

DEFINITION OF A MIGRANT CHILD

A child aged 3 to 21, whose parents or guardians have moved within the past 36 months across state or county lines to seek or obtain temporary or seasonal employment in agriculture and/fishing.

TYPES OF SERVICES AVAILABLE

  • Early Childhood Program (children ages 3-5),

  • After School, or in school, Tutorial Program (grades K-12),

  • Health Services (school physicals and dental examinations), and

  • Other Services (academic assistance for furthering a child's education through college, vocational programs, referrals to agencies, and Drop-Out Prevention).
